World number one Novak Djokovic has tested positive for COVID-19 in the fallout from his controversial Adria Tour.
The final of the tour in Zadar was cancelled on Sunday evening after Grigor Dimitrov had announced he tested positive for the Coronavirus.
Since then the likes of Borna Coric as well as members from Djokovic and Dimitrov’s team as the majority of players were tested on Croatia.
However Djokovic flew back to Belgrade to get tested and we now know that the world number one has tested positive for the virus.
In a statement Djokovic announced that both him and his wife had tested positive, “The moment we arrived in Belgrade we went to be tested. My result is positive, just as Jelena’s, while the results of our children are negative,” Djokovic said.
“Everything we did in the past month, we did with a pure heart and sincere intentions. Our tournament meant to unite and share a message of solidarity and compassion throughout the region.
“We organised the tournament at the moment when the virus has weakened , believing that the conditions for the tour had been met. Unfortunately the virus is still present, and it is a new reality that we are still learning to cope and live with.
“I am sorry for each individual case of infection. I hope that it will not complicate anyone’s health situation and that everyone will be fine. I will remain in self-isolation for the next 14 days, and repeat the test in five days.”
The news doesn’t come as too much of a shock considering the irresponsible nature of the tour including football and basketball matches, kids days, lack of disinfectant at stadiums, nightclub parties and concerts.
Djokovic needs to take responsibility along with all the other players who participated in this for some cash in the middle of a global pandemic. Reckless idiots…

Questions will now be raised about Djokovic’s ATP Council leadership amid rumours that he skipped Zoom calls about Tennis’ restart.
The ATP World Tour was due to resume in Washington on the 14th of August, with the US Open taking place on the 31st of August.
However the recent fallout from the Adria Tour could put Tennis’ restart into some doubt.
