Former world number 1 Jelena Jankovic will make her come-back to the tennis court at the Adria Tour, the charity tournament launched by Novak Djokovic with the goal to restart the 2020 season.
“I want to announce with great satisfation the arrival of Jelena Jankovic, who is coming back to the world of tennis in this way after a long break. I am happy to see her during the Adria Tour and to be able to take the tournament together”, said Djokovic.
Jankovic will team up with Djokovic in a mixed doubles match against rising star Olga Danilovic and Nenad Zimonjic.
“The tournament is Novak’s brilliant idea and it will be a show”, said Jankovic.
For the first time since the end of the Second World War tennis has been stopped for almost four months. The Adria Cup will give players the chance to recover the rhythm of matches.
The Adria Tour will be highlighted by three top 10 players Novak Djokovic, Dominic Thiem and Alexander Zverev, 2014 US Open champion Marin Cilic, Grigor Dimitrov and Borna Coric. The first 1000 tickets were sold out in just minutes.
There is a huge public interest for the Belgrade tournament from 12th to 14th June. Official ticket company, which sold their tickets on the tournament website, decided to release 1000 tickets on Friday, respecting the measures of safety and social distance of one metres between spectators.
The Belgrade leg will be followed by Zadar (20-21 June), Montenegro (27-28 June) and Banja Luka (3-4 July).
