Four players inside the top 60 will be in the spotlight at the UTR Pro Match Series presented by Tennis Channel. This three-day round-robin tournament will be held from Friday 8 May to Sunday 10 May in West Palm Beach (Florida).
Florida-residents Reilly Opelka, Miomir Kecmanovic, Tommy Paul and Hubert Hurkacz will take place in a tournament, which will offer an opportunity to test their form and offer a tournament to fans, who are hungry for tennis at the time of coronavirus.
The tournament will start on Friday with the match between Paul and Hurkacz. The schedule of the first day will also feature two more matches: Opelka vs Kecmanovic and Opelka vs Paul. Three matches will follow on Saturday: Hurkacz vs Opelka, Paul vs Kecmanovic and Hurkacz vs Kecmanovic. The tournament will end on Sunday with the finals.
This event will take place in a private club in West Palm Beach and there will no public access. Two weeks later four WTA players Ajla Tomljanovic, Amanda Anisimova, Danielle Collins and Alison Riske will play in the women’s tournament from 22 to 24 May.
The UTR Pro Match Series Presented by Tennis Channel will follow enhanced safety precautions and implement strict screening, cleaning and social distancing measures for players, officials and staff. The health and safety protocol includes: health assessment and temperature checks daily, social distancing of at least 2 metres, minimum personnel on site for cleaning and and safety, no fans, cleaning before, during and after each day, separate rest areas off court for each player, marked and numbered balls for each player, no handshakes or physical contact between players. Players keep distance on court.
“It’s right in the back yard, which is great. It’s something that does not happen often, so that’s one positive. From a spectator standpoint, to give people some live tennis, live sport, that’s the most important thing”, said Reilly Opelka.
“It’s definitely going to be fun to get back and play some matches, especially since the last months have been pretty boring practicing every day”, said Miomir Kecmanovic.
