Kyle Edmund will start his partnership to respected coach Franco Davin for the upcoming 2020 season. Edmund experienced some major changes in his coaching team during the 2019 season.
Edmund’s long-time coach Fredrick Rosengren, who retired from the tour to spend more time with his family. The British player also split with his other coach Mark Hylton two months after he lost his first-round match at the 2019 China Open in Beijing. Edmund reached his first Grand Slam semifinal at the 2018 Australian Open and rose to a career-high ranking of world number 14 under the guidance of Rosengren and Hylton.
Edmund had a trial week with Davin after the Paris Bercy Rolex Masters 1000 tournament and started working with the Argentine coach in Miami after the end of the 2019 Davis Cup in Madrid.
Edmund had a 14-22 win-loss record in 2019 and reached the semifinal in Eastbourne. He also reached quarter final in Washington and the fourth round at Indian Wells.
Davin coached Juan Martin Del Potro for six years helping the Argentine player win his maiden Grand Slam title at the 2009 US Open. Davin later worked with Gaston Gaudio, Fabio Fognini and Dimitrov before joining Edmund’s coaching team.
Another tennis star Borna Coric added Martin Stepanek to his coaching team after splitting with Riccardo Piatti last September. Stepanek worked with Tomas Berdych and Ivan Dodig. Coric reached his career-high of number 12 in the ATP Ranking in 2018, but he did not a single title in 2019.
