Former world number one Kim Clijsters has delayed her comeback to tennis after an injury setback.
The 36 year-old was due to return to the tour in Australia after announcing her extraordinary decision to return to the WTA Tour in September.

However her seven year absence from professional tennis will be extended a little longer as she announced today she is delaying her return.
An announcement was made on social media where she said the following, “I’ve had to make the decision that I will not be able to compete in January,” Clijsters explained in the Twitter post.
“I am undergoing rehab and treatment for a knee injury. It’s a setback but I’m determined as ever to get back to the game I love. I really appreciate all your support and encouragement.”
It is unclear how long the delay will be but with the Belgian in her late 30’s, you can be sure that her return to action won’t be rushed until she is fully fit.
In her 13 year career, Klijsters won four grand slams which included one Australian Open and three US Open titles over two careers.
