Petra Kvitova is remaining positive despite suffering a disappointing loss at the US Open to Andrea Petkovic.

The two-time grand slam champion fell in the second round at the US Open after suffering a 6-4 6-4 defeat to an inspired Andrea Petkovic.

It wasn’t the greatest day from Kvitova, who hit 32 unforced errors on her way to a bad day at the office and out of the US Open.

Despite the loss though, the Czech Republican is still happy with how her grand slam season unfolded, “Overall I’m pretty happy, for sure,” Kvitova said in her post match press conference.

“I had to withdraw from the French Open, which wasn’t really nice thing but that’s happened in the tennis career, so I’m taking it. Well, I reached the final of the Australian Open, definitely the highlight of it.

“I could miss Wimbledon but I was able to play and reached good result over there. Overall, I think it was okay.”

As the Czech Republican explained she can take confidence from reaching the Australian Open final, when considering if she can once again win a grand slam again.

When assessing today’s match, the former Wimbledon champion gave all the credit to her German opponent,Yeah, I think that she likes my game, to be honest a bit. She played great. She moved pretty well, as well,” she said.

“Yeah, I had my chances, of course, but I was always missing, you know, a little bit of the last things. I was break up in the second, and I should make it. But, yeah, overall I don’t think I really played that bad. That’s how it is.

Yeah, of course I’m pretty disappointing about the loss, but I going to try to stay healthy. That’s the main thing.”

Next for the 29 year-old is the Asian swing where she has had good success in the past as she looks to make a push for the WTA Finals.

The Czech Republican is currently fourth in the Race To Shenzhen Rankings.
