Karolina Pliskova said that she made too many mistakes today as she exited the French Open in the third round to Petra Martic.
The world number two produced a poor performance today as she crashed out of Roland Garros at the third round stage with a 6-3 6-3 defeat to Petra Martic.
After cruising past her opening two opponents in less than two hours combined, the Rome champion had no answer for an in-form and confident Martic.
There were five breaks of serve from the Croatian as she continues to impress in the clay as she has won 14 of 16 matches on the surface.

Speaking after the match, Pliskova said that she made too many mistakes and Martic was the better player on the day, “I think I just didn’t play that well. Maybe I was a little bit, at some points, passive, maybe not that fast,” Pliskova explained during her press conference.
“My serve wasn’t really working. I don’t think she did much wrong today, so I think she played clever. She was patient. I just did too many mistakes.”
Conditions also played a part in the match as Pliskova also believes the slower conditions on Chatrier played into the hands of Martic, “I think, like I said before, I think the court is pretty slow, so you just have to play some extra shots,” Pliskova said.
“But the centre court, I played twice, and twice it was slow. She just have this kind of game which, you know, you don’t feel good about, and I think she played well.”
After a disappointing performance for the second seed, she will now look ahead to the grass court season, where Eastbourne will be her first tournament on the surface.
Meanwhile Petra Martic now looks the most likely to make the semi-finals from her part of the draw and will now play either Veronika Kudermetova or Kaia Kanepi next.
