Novak Djokovic’s route to the US Open final has been made easier following a shock event that occurred at the US Open on Monday.
The former world No.1 eased his way past an animated Joao Sousa in straight sets to progress to the last eight of the tournament. Awaiting him next will be Australian John Milman, who produced a stunning win over 20-time grand slam champion Roger Federer.
Meanwhile in the women’s draw, Naomi Osaka downed Aryna Sabalenka to reach her first grand slam quarter-final. She will play Lesia Tsurenko in the next round. Elsewhere, Carla Suarez Navarro tamed Maria Sharapova to book a last eight meeting with Madison Keys.
