The tenth day of the US Open will be one that will forever be remembered in the history books of Japanese tennis.
Naomi Osaka and Kei Nishikori both came through their matches to secure a place in the last four. Making it the first time a Japanese man and woman has reached the semi-final at the same major. Osaka blasted her way past an ill-stricken Lesia Tsurenko in less than an hour. In contrast, Nishikori edged former champion Main Cilic in a five-set thriller.
During the night session, Novak Djokovic reached his 11th consecutive US Open semi-final with a straightforward win over John Millman in sweltering conditions. Meanwhile, 2017 finalist Madison Keys got the better of Spain’s Carla Suarez Navarro.
