Former world number 13, Alexandr Dolgopolov has announced that he will miss the rest of the 2018 season after having wrist surgery.

The surgery means that he won’t compete again in 2018 having only played five events this season, with his last match being his first round loss in Rome to Novak Djokovic. The current world number 81 is not the only player to have problems with his wrists as players like Juan Martin Del Potro and Madison Keys have been a common example that these types of injuries are more prone on the tour these days.

The 29 year old will hope to come back stronger next year as his unique game style is one of the most entertaining on tour and he has proven in the past that he has the ability to trouble anyone on tour. As for now he will be undergoing strong rehab to make sure he is back for the start of the 2019 season.
