38 year old Stephane Robert is looking to join the Ageing ATP World Tour in proving that age is just a number at this year’s Wimbledon.

The Frenchman made more history at Roehampton last week as he became the second oldest man in history to qualify for Wimbledon, with the oldest being Neale Fraser in 1978 at 40 years of age. Now the world number 158 is looking to join the likes of Ivo Karlovic and Mikhail Youzhny in making more history on an ageing ATP World Tour.

The Frenchman defeated Italian, Luca Vanni in the last round of qualifying to make the main draw and is continuing to prove that age is just a number. The erratic Frenchman would have been inspired Roger Federer’s recent comeback as at the age of 36 the 20 time grand slam champion has won three grand slams since his six months absence in 2016.

It also seems that the older the age the better you play on the ATP World Tour with Ivo Karlovic, Victor Estrella Burgos and Mischa Zverev being noticeable success stories on the Men’s side with this theme surely set to continue. Perseverance and mental fortitude becoming a key part of these older players giving it their best shot as some of them realise that this their last chance to make a major impact on the tour.

Stephane Robert will look to make a major impact when he takes on Albert Ramos-Vinolas on Tuesday as a major throwback match between Ivo Karlovic and Mikhail Youzhny is set to take place. However one thing is certain at these championships, age is just a number.
