Andy Murray and Stan Wawrinka, who both received wild cards into the ATP event in Eastbourne next week, will meet in the first round.
The two grand slam champions, both of whom are in the early stages of comebacks from injury, are the highest profile players in the final Wimbledon tuneup. Diego Schwartzman is the top seed; No. 2 seed Kyle Edmund awaits the winner of the blockbuster opener.
Murray, recovering from a hip injury, returned to competitive play at Queen’s Club this week for the first time since Wimbledon. He lost in three sets to Nick Kyrgios in the first round, appearing sharp at times but struggling with fitness in the final stages. He said after that match that he was unsure if he would play Wimbledon, a decision that remains unmade.
The 31-year-old from Scotland last played in the event 12 years ago, when it was held in Nottingham.
Wawrinka, meanwhile, also appeared at Queen’s Club in his continued return from knee surgery. He beat Cameron Norrie in the first round before falling to Sam Querrey in the second.
He had previously played a pair of tour events on clay and at Roland Garros, where he lost in the first round. The 33-year-old has never won a title on grass.
Murray has won 10 of the 18 meetings between the two, including the only match on grass: a straight sets win in the first round of the London Olympics in 2012. Wawrinka won the last meeting, a five-setter at Roland Garros last year.
