World No. 1 Rafael Nadal has disclosed his good friend and long-time rival Roger Federer plans to send his twin sons, Leo and Lennart to the Rafael Nadal Tennis Academy.
Reigning French Open champion Nadal and current World No. 2 Federer are arch-rivals on the court and have contested some of the most iconic matches in the sport of tennis. However, the duo’s admiration for each other off the court is well known. Who could forget their iconic photograph from the recently conceptualized Laver Cup, where Nadal is seen jumping on Federer’s shoulder in celebration of team’s triumph over America.
Once again, Federer has offered a hand of support to the Spaniard. Nadal’s academy in Majorca is the venue of the III Ten Pro Global Junior Tour, an annual tournament for young tennis players from around the globe. The organizers of the event are expecting more than 250 boys and girls to take part in the competition.
And Federer has pledged his support to the cause of helping young kids realize their tennis dreams. Rafa revealed that Roger has promised him that he will bring his sons to his academy.
Nadal explained: “Roger Federer said that he would bring his sons to the Rafael Nadal Tennis Academy.”
“I would say that it is the most important professional and vital project of my career, it is very special for me,” Nadal added.
“The Academy is a training centre for athletes where they are given all the possible opportunities so that they can reach their maximum potential, and is equipped with the latest technology applied to sports.”
