Two-time Grand Slam champion Svetlana Kuznetsova insists that Swiss legend Roger Federer is the coolest guy in the tennis world as he is extremely humble, down to earth and is willing to help other players especially juniors, both on and off the court.
Kuznetsova, a former French and US open winner lauded the former men’s No. 1 for his character and his mannerisms particularly when he is not playing the sport. Federer is immensely popular not just among the fans, but the players as well as. More often than not, ATP and WTA professionals are heard saying good things about the reigning Australian Open and Wimbledon champ.
Speaking about the friendly nature of the 36-year-old, Kuznetsova said: “I feel that Federer is very kind to me and I like him even more. He said eight years ago that I was his favorite player. It was the greatest compliment ever! Nobody is cooler than Roger. He is from another planet.”
The Russian is almost certain to miss next year’s Australian Open as she is still to recover from the wrist surgery she underwent in November this year. In fact, she could miss the first few months of the new season as she has been advised rest by the doctors and has been told not to rush her return to competitive tennis.
Her absence from the first Grand Slam of the year in Melbourne will be a huge setback for the tournament organizers as defending women’s champion Serena Williams is also doubtful for the event because of her recent wedding and the birth of her first daughter Alexis Olympia.
