Roland Garros champions Ryan Harrison and Michael Venus have qualified for the Semi-Finals in London after a 6-7(4) 6-4 10-5 victory over Pierre-Hughes Herbert and Nicolas Mahut.
Despite the result it was the two time grand slam champions who drew the first blow as they broke in the third game to take a 2-1 lead.
However in an edgy first set the eighth seeds worked their way back into the match and broke back for 3-3.No more break points were created by either team as an edgy and tight first set went to a tiebreak.
Herbert and Mahut took the most risks tactically and earned their rewards as they dominated the tiebreak to grab the first set 7-4.
However the Roland Garros champions gained momentum in the second set as they broke in the first game for 1-0. A much better serving set from both Harrison and Venus saw them save four break points in the sixth game to keep their break advantage.
The French duo had no response as the eighth seeds took the second set 6-4 to force a champions tiebreak.
Herbert and Mahut ran out of ideas as the Roland Garros champions ran out to a 9-3 lead. Harrison and Venus completed victory in just over an hour and 40 minutes to advance to the Semi-Finals.
Their win also means that Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau are out of the World Tour Finals despite winning more points than both of their opponents so far.
Meanwhile Pierre-Hughes Herbert and Nicolas Mahut will play Henri Kontinen and John Peers on Thursday for the right to join the Roland Garros champions in the Semi-Finals in London.
