Amazon have won the right to show the ATP World Tour in the UK after they outbid Sky, who’s contract ends in 2018.

The move sees Amazon bid 10 million pounds for exclusive rights to the ATP World Tour in the UK, that offer was two million more than what Sky offered in their current contract. The current deal includes showing the masters 1000 events from around the World including Monte Carlo, Madrid and Paris. It also means that Amazon will be broadcasting the ATP World Tour Finals in London, which is the season ending championships for the ATP World Tour.

The rights for the ATP World Tour is the first rights for the company outside the US after obtaining rights to National Football League in America as they broadcast 10 matches per season. They also have rights to live audio streaming for the Bundesliga, the top Football league in Germany. The move comes as bad news for Sky as last year they also lost rights to the US Open to Eurosport and now look like fools for rebranding their Sky Sports Library.

Sky are also in a battle to obtain Premier League rights and have had trouble obtaining rights to other events. Most UK fans will now be disappointed to learn that should they want to watch ATP World Tour tennis they will have to subscribe to either Amazon or Tennis Tv,
