17th seed Jack Sock has vowed to find the young fan who had a towel thrown at him before it was taken away by a middle-aged man at Wimbledon.
The incident occurred on Tuesday after Sock defeated Chile’s Christian Garin in four sets. Throwing one of his towels towards the crowd, a young child was the first to catch it before a man wearing a purple polo shirt sitting in front of him snatched it away. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media after being shared thousands of times.

Former British Fed Cup captain Judy Murray has since slammed the unidentified man. Writing on her Twitter account, Murray has said that he should be ‘ashamed’ of his actions.
“If ur the bloke in the blue polo shirt and hat, you should be ashamed,” she wrote.
24-year-old Sock has now launched a bid to try and track down the young fan. He has pledged to give the boy another towel after his first was taken away from him. In a Tweet, which has been retweeted more than 1600 times, he has asked the public to help him find the name of the child.
If anyone knows the kid that unfortunately had the towel ripped out of his hands…tweet his name at me and I’ll be sure to get him one

Since Sock’s tweet, the US Open and Australian Open have both offered to send the boy one of their own towels, if he is located. Fans have praised Sock for his actions. One user called him ‘classy’ and another described the American as a ‘lovely bloke.’
