In a recent press conference in Poznan, Jerzy Janowicz has revealed plans to join Gunter Bresnik in Austria permanently. He has also revealed his latest situation concerning representing the national team as a new president of the Polish federation is announced.
It looks like Jerzy Janowicz has reached a positive frame of mind as he looks pick up some much needed momentum in Poznan this week. This is a nice change for the Pole’s fans who have been used to an unmotivated Jerzy Janowicz in the past 12 months. In a recent press conference the Pole has revealed plans to permanently move to Austria in order to improve his tennis.
This may confuse some fans as they may have thought that him and his coach Gunter Bresnik had split up after comments made by the Austrian saying that he was wasting his talent and being lazy. This is what the Pole said in Poznan regarding a move to Austria, ‘My coach is and will be Gunter Bresnik and in this regard nothing has changed. I am in quite serious plans to move to Austria which shows the partnership is working well.’ He made these comments to clarify rumours that fellow tennis player Michal Przysiezny will coach him. However the former Wimbledon Semi-Finalist dismissed these rumours.
However one bit of bad news for Polish tennis fans was the fact that Jerzy Janowicz may not represent Poland in Davis Cup in Davis Cup again. A couple of years ago Janowicz took Poland to the World Group for the first time in their history. However after fallouts with ex president Jacek Muzolf over funding cuts and treatment over injuries, the relationship between Janowicz and the Polish federation is complicated and difficult.
However he hopes talks with new talks with Mirosław Skrzypczyński are better however he explained that he needs a lot of persuading, ‘I am currently no longer taking part in the Davis Cup. I am disgusted with different situations that happened in the past couple of years that I don’t want to talk about. I will conduct talks with the current president. As it stands I am no longer in the national team.’
Jerzy Janowicz will play Goncalo Oliveira on Thursday at the Poznan Open as he builds momentum towards US Open Qualifying in August.
