Belgian tennis star David Goffin’s injury sustained in his third round match at Roland Garros is more serious than it first appeared.
The No.12 player in the Men’s ranking was forced to retire in his third round match with Argentina’s Horacio Zeballos. Goffin had tried to retrieve a ball deep at the back of the court. However, his foot caught in the tarpaulin at the back, and he left the court in severe discomfort moments later.
Goffin then shared a tweet today on his page confirming that there was indeed a muscle tear.
Hello guys, the last tests revealed a muscle tear. It will take time to heal but I hope to get well soon ! Thank you for your messages 🤗❤️ pic.twitter.com/ViNEnBzx6l

Goffin’s right foot was in a protective boot, suggesting that it was the ankle that took the brunt of the damage. Goffin looked in good spirits. There have been no indications of an exact time frame for his recovery.
It looks as if Goffin will be unlikely to feature in many of the pre Wimbledon grass court tournaments, and is a major doubt for the slam itself.
