The news comes in the wake of Henin’s former rival, Serena Williams, announcing her own pregnancy. The current WTA No.1 is to take the rest of the 2017 season off on maternity leave.
Henin was a former No.1 won Grand Slam titles at all events except Wimbledon, where she was a finalist in 2001 and 2006. The Belgian enjoyed her most successful runs at Roland Garros, and won four titles there, for a total of seven grand slam titles. After a surprise retirement in 2008, Henin returned to the game in 2010, but was forced to retire once more due to an ongoing elbow injury.
