9. Martin Damm
The first Czech player on the list is Martin Damm, a player very similar to Husarova on the main tour. He reached No. 5 in doubles, No. 42 in singles, and his best grand slam was the US Open, which he won in 2006 with Leander Paes. Damm never made his mark in singles, not reaching a single final in his career. Despite all of that, he was the one to end the career of Mats Wilander, a former World No. 1, in 1996. Wilander was obviously out of his prime, falling from No. 54 at the beginning of the year to No. 194 in Beijing. Damm, ranked 77 at the time, won the match 6-4 6-3. In 1997, Wilander was banned for failing a drug test during the 1995 French Open, making this match his last. After finishing his career, Damm coached Ryan Harrison, and later Martin Klizan. Now the Czech works with Leander Paes, with whom he played doubles towards the end of his career.
