After celebrating the Roger Federer Allee in Halle, Germany, the first street named after the Swiss champion, Roger Federer is ready to see his name appearing on yet another street. The city of Biel, in Switzerland, has decided to follow in Halle’s footsteps and celebrate its home champion and idol with a street named after him.
The street will link the new Swiss Tennis Academy to the Tissot Arena. The city of Biel hopes to welcome a WTA tournament starting on next year. Roger will inaugurate the street in person on April 21.
Biel has a special place in the champion’s heart. Roger moved to the little Swiss city when he was 16 to develop his talent and allegedly there he met Mirka’s eyes for the very first time. As we know, the love between the two became official only when the couple kissed for the first time few years after at the Olympic Games in Sydney.
