Juan Martin Del Potro: ‘I Am My Own First Enemy’

Juan Martin Del Potro talked to the press after being ousted in the second round of the Miami Open by compatriot Zeballos. Palito talked about his wrist saying things are getting better, but he is not completely safe yet.

Juan Martin Del Potro was supposed to fight in a showdown clash with Roger Federer in the second round of the Miami Open. Roger had to pull out due to illness, Juan Martin ended up losing in straight sets to compatriot Horacio Zeballos. The big match didn’t take place, but the Argentine is back on the tour, after undertaking yet another surgery to his left wrist. The 2009 US Open champion scared his fans in Florida, when he asked for the trainer on court, having his wrist inspected, looking as if in pain.

Speaking to the media after the loss, Palito explained what happened and how his recovery is progressing after the come back to the tour this month.

”It did hurt me a little, I have to admit it. But my life over the last period has taken a positive turning. I am happy. I know my limits, I will see how I feel over the next days” said the former World No.4.

The 27-year-old ended with a quote that better explains how his struggles affect his confidence, but how he is not willing to surrender just yet. ‘‘I am my own first enemy” said Palito, referring to his body and the many injuries he has had to face over the last years.
