In the first set the match was dominated by Andrea Petkovic. She played a better tennis and was more consistent than Ostapenko. The German broke her opponent at 2/1 to take the lead and a good option for the first set. She confirmed the break and her advantage, won her service game and broke again (5/1).
No reason to give up for Ostapenko. The young girl believed strong and came back step by step. A surprising return from Ostapenko (5/5). She won her game and during the break, Andrea Petkovic took a medical time out for her left leg.

But she lost the first set 7/5. The German tried to play at the beginning of the second set but the pain was too strong. She retired and Ostapenko won the match.
Jelena going to play her first final of the year tomorrow against Carla Suarez Navarro.
With this win, Ostapenko will enter to the top 50, the young power now in WTA tour.
If Ostapenko goes on to win here, assures there will be three 18yos in the Top 50 on Monday. Bencic, Ostapenko, and Kasatkina.
