Wroclaw: Marco Chiudinelli had only made it into the main draw in Wroclaw as an alternate, yet the Swiss veteran capped an excellent week with victory in the final over fellow veteran Jan Hernych 6-3, 7-6. Hernych himself was surprise finalist having had to qualify just to earn a place in the main draw. Chiudinelli dropped just one set, in the first round against Dan Evans, before defeating Mirza Basic, Alexander Kudryavtsev, and Konstantin Kravchuk en route to the final. Chiudinelli displayed excellent clutch tennis, as his wins over both Kudryavtsev and Kravchuk were both by tiebreak margins. Hernych had accounted for two seeds in Jan-Lennard Struff and Dustin Brown on his way to a respectable finish.
Morelos: Gerald Mezler moves closer to breaking the Top 100 for the first time, as the younger brother of former Roland Garros semi-finalist Jurgen defeated Alejandro Gonzalez 7-6, 6-3 for the title in Mexico. The tournament was highlighted by another good run by twenty-five year old Italian Alessandro Giannessi, who defeated Nicolas Lapentti and Alexander Sarkissian on his way to a respectable semi-final defeat to Gonzalez.
New Delhi: In a tournament lacking any Top 100 players, it was another veteran who took advantage to take the title. Stephane Robert, who had reached the third round of the Australian Open as a qualifier, continued his excellent start to the season by earning ninety points in India courtesy of a win in the final over Saketh Myneni. Robert played an excellent tournament, winning the title without dropping a set. It was not a close affair with the Frenchman dropping just three games in a 6-3, 6-0 win. Seventeen year old South Korean Duckhee Lee failed to move beyond the first round, losing to second seed Kimmer Coppejans, but veteran Italian Flavio Cipollla reached the semi-finals,with wins over Jimmy Wang and Niels Desein.
