South African star Kevin Anderson will start the 2016 season at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi which starts on the 31th December. He will play against Milos Raonic in his first match at the Mubadala Exhibition Tournament which traditionally kicks off the tennis season.
Anderson became the first South African player in more than a decade to reach the top 10. He qualified for the quarter finals at last September’s US Open after beating Andy Murray in the fourth round. He had a win-loss record of 46-24.
“I can’t wait to be competing at this year’s Mubadala World Tennis Championships and have always wanted to be part of it. I know all the players really give it their all in Abu Dhabi and I hear the crowd are pretty amazing, so I am looking forward to experiencing it for the first time. When I turned pro, my aim was to make it to the top 100 in the world and this year I broke into the top 10, which was a massive moment for me. I hope to build on this in 2016 and the chance to play in Abu Dhabi against the top players in the world ahead of the new season will get me in the best possible shape to do so.”, said Anderson
