Serena Williams decided to take the final part of the season off to recover from injuries and recover from the US Open loss to Roberta Vinci. The American has however decided to confirm her participation for the IPTL in Manila.
Serena Williams decided it was time for her body to rest and regroup after her disappointing loss to Roberta Vinci last September in the semi-finals of the US Open. The World No.1 – who saw her calendar Grand Slam dream evaporate – shocked the tennis community in October revealing she had decided to take the rest of the season off to recover from the loss and to let her body rest, having played most of the season injured.
The World No.1 has however decided she wills step on court once more in 2015 before calling it a year as she will compete in the IPTL, the international Premier Tennis Leage, created last year by Mahesh Bhupathi.
It was the Indian tennis star to confirm Serena’s participation in the event when the IPTL will be played in the Philippines on December 6-8.
Serena will be a part of the Philippine Mavericks, together with Richard Gasquet, Milos Raonic, Mark Philippousis and Sabine Lisicki.
