Jean Julien Rojer from the Netherlands and Horia Tecau from Romania beat Marcin Matkowski and Nedad Zimonjic 6-2 6-4 scoring their first win in the Freming/McEnroe Group at the ATP World Tour Finals at the O2 Finals in London. Thanks to this win the Dutch/Romanian team have moved to World Number 1 in the Doubles Ranking ahead of Bob and Mike Bryan who lost their first match against Rohan Bopanna and Florin Mergea in the Ashe/Smith Group on Sunday evening.
Rojer and Tecau got a double break in the third and in the fifth games to race out to a 5-1 lead in the opening set. They reeled off eight of the next nine points to build up a 6-2 2-0 lead in the second set. Zimonjic and Matkowski won three consecutive games to take a 3-2 lead. Rojer and Tecau fought back reeling off three games in a row to overtake Zimonjic and Matkowski for 5-3 before closing out the match to 30 after 1 hour and 7 minutes.
