Guy Forget, twice Davis Cup champion in 1991 and 1996 and now BNP Paribas Masters Tournament Director, talled to the media about the success of the 2015 edition of the Paris Bercy Masters 1000 Tournament held last week at the brand new Acoorhotels Arena, the new name of the Palais Omnisport.
“It was a very successful edition for a number of reasons. We had thousands of workers working day and night on site. I believe it was really a great feat that everyone was able to end the work on time. The players were very enthusiastic about the welcome that was prepared for them, especially for centre court, but also for everything that is behind the scenes, the locker rooms, the warm-up rooms, the physio-room and the catering and the players lounge. Everything was improved compared to last year. There were new things this year. There were new things this year with the presentation of the players and the poster campaign. I believe this was a success because of all the projections we saw on the screens when the players came out of the tunnel. I have had only positive comments from the players. I am a specialist in tennis and I have seen the most beautiful matches ever during this tournament.
“Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray came at the beginning of the tournament to talk to the press, and even before they were asked, they were very complimentary about the stadium. I believe that the dark colour everywhere makes a sort of beautiful contrast with the yellow ball”
Forget is already working on the next edition and talked about the plan to further improve on the presentation of players.
“To improve the tournament, we depend on the participation of the top players, on the quality of the show they are going to give on teh court. But in terms of the player presentation, we have already started working on new things in terms of lighting or just to surprise our spectators and television viewers. Our teams have invented things that will go even a bit further than we have had this year”, concluded Forget
