Kervak after her win over Wozniacki in 2013

The 2009 Australian Open junior girls champion Ksenia Pervak has retired at the age of 24. The Russian, who reached a career high ranking of 37 on the WTA, retired after long-term injuries took their toll.

Pervak reflected on her promising career cut short: “In fact, my tennis was interesting the way, I have something to remember: junior Australia, Wimbledon successful 2011, winning in Tashkent, a couple of finals, any victory over a top-10 players. All that will remain with me, I’ll never forget it. I would like to thank all those who accompanied me, supported in this way”

She reached the fourth round of Wimbledon in 2011, defeating seeded Shahar Pe’er and Andrea Petkovic before falling to Tamira Paszek. 2011 also saw her win the Tashkent Open, defeating Eva Binerova, for her only title on the WTA tour. She also enjoyed a victory over former World No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki in Brisbane 2013.

Recent years had seen her slip down the rankings. In her last tournament, an ITF in Vancouver, Canada, she was ranked below 300.
