Only two first round matches took place today at the Valencia Open as the finaly qualifying round copped the majority of the action.
Pablo Cuevas had a straightforward win over Spaniard Pablo Carreño and Vasek Pospisil continued to pile on the misery for Santi Giraldo as he handed the Colombian his fifth defeat in six matches.
Pospisil now awaits the winner of Aljaz Bedene – Jeremy Chardy and Cuevas will take on Bernard Tomic.
The action continues tomorrow in Valencia with up to seven first round matches which include the all-Spanish affaire between Garcia-Lopez and Verdasco and the always exciting Nick Kyrgios against qualifier Daniel Brands.
