Outspoken Sergiy Stakhovsky has again caused controversy by criticising Eugenie Bouchard’s decision to take the USTA to court over her injury suffered by falling at US Open tournament this year. Bouchard fell in a slippery changing-room and suffered a concussion. She has not played since withdrawing from the event.
The Ukrainian Stakhovsky has reacted to the news by posting on his twitter page. “Maybe I should also sue my parents every time I slip on court?? Because they didn’t teach me to walk properly”.
Stakhovsky immediately drew heavy backlash from Bouchard fans who felt that Stakhovsky should not have got involved, though a couple of people agreed with Stakhovsky. It is not the first time that the Ukrainian, who knocked out Roger Federer in the second round of Wimbledon in 2013, has caused controversy.
He landed in hot water earlier this year, when he made comments regarding gay people, specifically on the women’s tour. This drew heavy criticism from the likes of Martina Navratilova and James Blake.
