“I think we work really good together,” Muguruza said.
“I think we have kind of like a similar personality. We felt really fast ‘come on let’s work’. I think the moment we started together we were really motivated to do great things and so far it’s going well and hopefully we can continue like this.”
Sumyk has a wealth of coaching experience to his name. Prior to his partnership with Muguruza, he guided Victoria Azarenka two world number 1 as well as spending time with Vera Zvonareva and Eugenie Bouchard.

“In this year I felt a lot of things. I’ve learned a lot from that Wimbledon final after. It’s just hard when you live something like this and then you see that people at the top have to deal with this all the time. It’s hard. That’s what I learned,”. The 22-year-old said.
Muguruza is currently playing in this week’s WTA Finals in Singapore, where she bidding to become the first Spanish player to reach the final since Arantxa Sanchez Vicario back in 1993. There has never been a Spanish winner of the prestigious event. Speaking about her chances of winning the WTA Finals, the 22-year-old believes that she has the ability to do so.
“I’ve played with all these girls, they’re not new to me. Yes, I definitely feel like I can win. But let’s see what happens. I have no idea,” she told Sport 360.
Muguruza will play Angelique Kerber in her second match in Singapore on Wednesday. In her first match she defeated Lucie Safarova 6-3, 7-6 (4).
