Agnieszka Radwanska set up a semifinal against Karolina Pliskova in the Tianjin Open WTA International after winning her quarter final against 2014 Australian Open Junior champion Elizaveta Kulichkova with 7-6 (7-3) 6-2. Radwanska fought back from 4-5 down before clinching the first set with 7-3 at the tie-break. Both Radwanska and Pliskova are in contention for a spot for the WTA Finals in Singapore.
Pliskova fired 11 aces and fended of five break points in her 6-3 6-2 win over Timea Babos from Hungary in one hour and one minute.
Radwanska needs to win the Tianjin to secure her spot for the WTA Finals in Singapore.
Bojana Jowanowski overcame Kristina Mladenovic in three sets with 6-4 4-6 6-3. Jowanowski dropped her serve on the only break point point she faced in the third set but she broke back on Mladenovoc’s final service game.
Jowanowski set up a semifinal against Danka Kovinic from Montenegro who also needed three sets to edge Duan Ying-Ying with 7-5 3-6 6-3. Kovinic is the first player from Montenegro to reach a WTA semifinal
