Agnieszka Radwanska eased into the second round of what is historically her weakest grand slam with a straightforward 6-2, 6-3 win over Katerina Siniakova.
Radwanska came into the US open with solid form since her semi final marker at Wimbledon, with quarter final displays in New Haven and Toronto. The fifteenth seeded Pole took just sixty-three minutes to defeat her sixty-ninth ranked opponent.
Radwanska dominated Siniakova, serving impeccably and proved too strong when returning second serve points, eventually breaking four times from eleven opportunities, and facing none on her own serve.
Radwanska faces the winner of the match between her sister Ursula, ranked eighty-third and ninety-first ranked Magda Linette.
The Lindsay Davenport coached Madison Keys could be the first major obstacle for Radwanska in the third round, and she could potentially meet top seeded Serena Williams or Sloane Stephens in the fourth round.
In other early action, Mariana Duque-Marino defeated home hope Sofia Kenin in straight sets, and there were also victories for Jessica Pegula and thirteenth seed Ekaterina Makarova.
