Daniel Gimeno Traver fought back from losing the first set to upset former champion Giles Simon 6-7 (5-7) 6-4 6-3 in the quarter final of the Nastase and Tiriac Trophy in Bucharest. Gimeno Traver will take on Jiri Vesely who beat Ivo Karlovic 6-3 6-4 to reach his third secmifinal of the year.
Last week’s Monte-Carlo semifinalist Gael Monfils confirmed his good period of form winning his quarter final over Simone Bolelli with 6-3 7-6 (7-4) and reached his second consecutive semifinal . Monfils had to save two set points in the second set at 4-5 30-40 and 5-6 30-40 before clinching the win in the tie-break. Monfils set up a semifinal against Guillermo Garcia Lopez who held off Lukas Rosol 6-4 7-6 (9-7)
