The 36 years old from Germany has decided to end his professional career at the German Tennis Championships in Biberach.
Michael Berrer, who holds a best ranking of 42 in singles and of 134 in doubles, finished the 2016 season on the 183rd place (in singles) and decided to call it a career. The German left hander played an all court tennis and had a big serve, helped by his height (6’4″).
His best results were the two singles finals at the Atp 250 of Zagreb, in 2010 and 2011, on indoor hard and the doubles title with Rainer Schuettler in Munich 2008. He also holds 10 titles on the Challenger Tour (the last one in Mouilleron Le Captif 2013 on indoor hard, defeating Mahut 1-6 6-4 6-3).
His best victory might be that on Rafael Nadal in the first round of Doha 2015, when he prevailed 1-6 6-3 6-4, while his best result in a Grand Slam is the third round at the Roland Garros 2011.
