The 111th edition of the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters was officially presented to the Italian media during the traditional press conference in the Show Room of the Sergio Tacchini headquarters in Milan. Sergio Tacchini is one of the historic partners of the famous tournament, which will take place at the Monte-Carlo Country Club from 15th to 23rd April 2017.
The Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters, which kicks off the European clay season, is traditionally one of the most popular tennis events among Italian fans.
The Monte-Carlo Rolex masters Director Zeljiko Franulovic, who won this tournament in 1970, highlighted the main facts and figures of this year’s edition.
“No less than 35000 tickets to attend the 2016 edition of our tournaments were sold to Italian fans. Considering the great interest of Italian media, our press conference in Milan in October has become a very important tradition for our tournament. We want to thank all Italian media, partners and fans for their support. We can proudly look back to the 110th edition of the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters It was a very successful edition from every point of view. The Draw was held in the Oceanographic Museum in Monaco, which was inaugurated by Prince Albert I in 1910. The Draw was attended by Novak Djokovic. The tournament was inaugurated by a Launch Party organized by Madmoiselle Melanie de Massy. During the week of the tournament tennis stars took part at the Players Night Party at the Monte-Carlo Bay. Another important highlight was the traditional Great Night of Stars at the Sale des Etoilles. We had a great week of tennis with a lot of exciting matches. Eight of the top 10 players played in this year’s edition. The great week was crowned by the final between Rafa Nadal and Gael Monfils. Nadal won his ninth title in Monte-Carlo to the delight of fans, who attended the final and spectators from all over the world, who watched it all over the world. The tournament was broadcast in 80 countries. We want to thank our media partners like Canal Plus and France Television in France and Sky Sport in Italy. No less than 462 journalists attended our tournament. We registered a record figure of 135652 spectators this year, including 35000 fans from Italy. Italian media and partners are the key for the success of our tournament”, said Zeliko Franulovic.
A nice team was brought together with Wintex for Sergio Tacchini (historic brand for tennis), hoster of the event, with Patrizia Bolzoni, General Manager and Cristina Clerici, Communication Manager.
Many “ambassadors” for the main sponsors of the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters in fact were attending the meeting: Monica Soldini for Peugeot, historic partner of the French Open and now also of the ATP Tour and the Italian Open. Frank Swinkels, Dunlop Slazenger Group managing director for Central Europe together with Daniel Beswick, Italy marketing manager and Francesca Traldi VP International communication for Faconnable. Monaco honorary consul in Milan, Jacopo de Mojana di Cologna, was also attending.
Preparations for next year’s edition are in full swing. Franulovic announced some of the highlights of the 2017 Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters.

“We launched a new on-line reservation tool in 3D to allow our fans to select their favourite seats more easily. With this reservation tool it is impossible to get the choice of seats wrong. We have already sold 30 percent more tickets than at the same stage of the year in 2015. We have already registered a rise in the number of ticket bookings from Italian tennis clubs. In 2016 we have announced the start of a new project involving the building of new facilities which will be completed in 2018. This includes a new interview room.
