It appears that former Wimbledon semifinalist Juan Martin Del Potro has enlisted the help of coach Dani Vallverdu for next week’s premier tournament.
Del Potro will be playing at the grass-court major for the first time in three years after being sidelined from the tournament due to a series of wrist injuries. The Argentine has invested a lot of time preparing for his return to SW19, including missing this year’s French Open.
In the build-up to Wimbledon, Del Potro has been seen on the court receiving help from Venezuelan-born Vallverdu during practice. Vallverdu is the former coach of Andy Murray and most recently Tomas Berdych. Berdych ended his work with the 30-year-old last month after losing 6-0, 6-0, to David Goffin at the Rome Masters.

There is currently no word from Del Potro and his team regarding his recent work with Vallverdu. The Argentine has been yet to appoint a principal coach since his return to the tour earlier this year. In March he said that he would be making changes regarding his team, but so far nothing significant has happened.
This week Del Potro is playing in The Boodles Challenge, an exhibition tournament hosted at Stoke Park. Other participants include Novak Djokovic and John Isner. He will play his first match later on Tuesday against Croatia’s Borna Coric. The former world No.4 has already played in two grass-court tournaments this season. At the Stuttgart Open he reached the semifinals followed by a first round exit to Isner at the Aegon Championships.
